Gippsland is a uniquely spectacular part of Victoria.

The Gippsland coast is a unique mix of spectacular wilderness areas, agricultural landscapes and vibrant coastal communities. Gippsland’s plant and animal species have evolved in response to these conditions; consequently many are only found in this region.

The Gippsland coastal region supports many migratory birds listed in the Japan–Australia Migratory Bird Agreement and the China–Australia Migratory Bird Agreement, as well as other threatened species, such as the Little Tern, Lathams Snipe and the Hooded Plover.
